Posting DetailsPosition Details Title Assistant/Associate Professor of Pediatrics Specific TitleAppointment Type Tenure Track Faculty Department IUSM - Pediatrics Campus IU School of Medicine Indianapolis Position Summary The Pediatric Pulmonology and Gene Therapy in the Wells Research Center is seeking candidates for a tenure track Assistant/Associate Professor of Pediatrics position.
This position will have a specific research focus in examining the genetic and environmental factors that lead to allergic and autoimmune diseases such as atopic dermatitis, allergic asthma and food allergy.
n to interrogate the molecular mechanisms responsible for the quality control of cystic fibrosis transmembrane-conductance regulator (CFTR) biogenesis by the endoplasmic reticulum using cell culture and mouse models.
The goal of this research would be to improve mutant CFTR expression on the plasma membrane and ultimately translating the discoveries of bench research into therapeutic interventions for the treatment of people with CF.
The applicant should have experience in CFTR research, epithelial cell culture, mouse models, molecular biology, biochemistry, and exhibit a willingness to collaborate with the current members of the department.
The applicant also should have some support from extramural sources.
The Division of Pediatric Pulmonology, Allergy and Sleep Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics at Indiana University School of Medicine conducts basic, translational and clinical research.
Specific areas of study include cystic fibrosis, asthma, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, primary ciliary dyskinesia, specialized physiologic testing, allergic diseases and sleep disorders.
The division has a history of participating in investigator-initiated studies as well as drug trials and is a part of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Therapeutic Development Network, the Food Allergy Research and Education Network, and the Pediatric Behavioral Sleep Research Network.
The division has been awarded funding from the NIH, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the American Lung Association, the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, and the Food Allergy Research and Education Network.
