Job Summary
This position is responsible for leading and managing networking and IT projects within IU Athletics with a dashed-line report to UITS Networks team. This role involves working closely with the IT team, Athletics Facilities, Radio/TV, stakeholders, and vendors to ensure that projects are completed on time, with budget approval, and meet the required quality standards.
Department Specific Responsibilities
  • Responsible for developing project plans, managing resources, and communicating project status updates to stakeholders.

  • Serves as the main point of contact for football and women's basketball in the fall, and baseball and softball in the spring.
  • Ensures we are ready to sell and scan tickets, host press, assists with stats and scoring set-up, and other issues as they arise.
  • This position is a dashed report to UITS Networking but will primarily be in support of the Athletics campus.
  • Other duties within Networks which may involve extensive training and partnership in order to be effective.
  • May be called upon to assist Networks with issues at other campus locations in the event of broader network issues.
  • Manages and documents the existing Athletics networks.
  • Plans, executes, and manages networking projects from initiation to completion.
  • Identifies and mitigates project risks and issues.
  • Coordinates with vendors and external partners to ensure project delivery.
  • Monitors and reports on project progress to stakeholders.
  • Manages project documentation and ensure that all project deliverables are met.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to project team members.
  • Works with vendors and Athletics and IU facilities to support/install various pieces of sports tech.
General Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the planning and implementation of IT project(s), often involving university staff from different teams and external partners on interrelated project tasks.
  • Designs, creates, executes, and manages project work plans and work-flow documents; establishes project timelines and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
  • Manages budget and monitors progress of projects to ensure that quality and cost constraints are met.
  • Responsible for reporting and documenting project milestones to share with leaders, stakeholders, and/or project partners.
  • Researches and stays up-to-date with IT project management best practices, approaches, and trends.
  • May provide guidance and lead IT project support staff and/or hourly staff.

Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
  • 2 years technical project/program support or related experience
Preferred
  • 2 years building or deploying networks within an enterprise system
  • 2 years of experience in IT project management, with a focus on networking

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. Tracking down network connections can sometimes involve moving through cramped interior spaces. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
Given the nature of Athletics, there are periods during the year where more than 40 hours per week may be required. However, we strive to balance those periods by allowing for flexible work times. Maintaining separation between work and home life is important to the IT department so that you do not feel like you are on-call 24/7.
Work Location
While work from home may be an option on occasion, this is primarily an on-site position.
Your office will be in Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
