Job Summary
The Assistant Director for Graduate Student Recruitment is responsible for developing, administering, and executing graduate student recruitment efforts for the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering - Bloomington Campus. This position is housed in the Student Services Unit where team collaboration is key to providing an excellent student experience.
Department-specific Responsibilities
  • Works with Luddy's Graduate leadership and Director of Graduate Recruitment and Admissions to develop, design, and execute the overall student recruitment strategy for the graduate programs at Luddy.
  • Meets with prospective students and/groups as needed.
  • Collaborates and communicates effectively with various IU stakeholders, including Luddy faculty and staff (e.g., Undergraduate Advising, Graduate Advising, Marketing Communications, etc.), campus entities (Office of International Admissions, University Graduate School etc.).
  • Assists in the development and implementation of marketing and recruitment strategies, including highly personalized communications with student suspects and prospects throughout the year.
  • Participates in career and graduate fairs, information sessions, delivers classroom presentations, and presents to other targeted student populations to increase awareness of Luddy Graduate and 4+1 programs.
  • Works closely with the Luddy Director of Graduate Recruitment and Admissions, and the Luddy Graduate Programs Directors to develop, implement, and execute graduate recruitment events for general and targeted student recruitment, which is in support of strategic goals.
  • Meets with prospective graduate students on a planned and ad hoc basis.
  • This position will specialize in providing support and guidance in the recruitment process to prospective graduate applicants.
  • Serves as a resource for prospective students, staff, faculty, and other IU staff regarding Luddy (Bloomington) graduate programs.
  • Advances and implements strategies for recruiting a diverse group of students to Luddy as a member of the recruitment team within the Luddy-Bloomington Graduate Student Services Office.
  • Collaborates with faculty, staff, and current students (Ambassadors) to create opportunities for recruitment events.
  • Represents Luddy at on-campus and off-campus events, in-state and domestically, planned by other IUB offices such as Office of International Student Services, University Graduate School, Office of Graduate Enrollment.
  • Integrates a diverse and strategic communications strategy in collaboration with other departments, or programs across campus in efforts to increase recruitment efforts.
  • Serves in a collaborative role with internal and external stakeholders to identify targets of opportunity to attract and enroll under-represented populations.
  • May attend meetings or serve on committees with the graduate admissions stakeholders, including staff meetings, recruitment, and outreach team meetings with departments.
General Responsibilities
  • Maintains, implements and oversees a holistic recruitment yield tactical plan for recruitment.
  • Develops, implements, and administers plans, programs, and events for general and targeted student recruitment in support of organizational goals.
  • Integrates a diverse and strategic communications strategy in collaboration with other departments, geared toward specific student declared academic major, career interests, and geographic factors.
  • Identifies and develops partnerships for outreach to prospective students and influencers.
  • Interprets academic policies and exercises authority and independent judgment.
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates programs and processes and determines the effectiveness of markets and strategies. Exercises independent judgment and uses census data and modeling tools to identify effective marketing plans and strategies to address specific populations.
  • Serves in a collaborative role with internal and external stakeholders to identify targets of opportunity to attract and enroll under-represented populations. Participates in the assessment and evaluation of various models.

EDUCATION
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in business, public policy, higher education administration or related field
Preferred
  • Master's degree
WORK EXPERIENCE
Preferred
  • Some experience in admissions, higher education, marketing, or related field
  • Experience within a higher education and admissions environment

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. This position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment. There will be times when at recruitment events, one will need to walk, stand, or move resources (up to 50 pounds.) to various recruitment events. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation
Advertised Salary
The salary range for this position is $42,700 - $47,735.
