Working Conditions / Demands
The person in this role must be available for evening and weekend events. Travel within and across university campuses, as well as within Indiana is required.
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Job Summary
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Tutors Groups Scholars Program students individually or in small groups to elevate student skills in math and general learning to encourage academic success.
- Outlines test review and study skills strategies for small groups and holds weekly tutorial appointments with relevant math students.
- Maintains drop-in help sessions to with algebra, calculus, and finite math students addressing particular concerns.
- Documents student progress and maintains tutoring records.
- Instructs selected Groups Scholars Program math course as a supplement and/or a replacement math courses.
- Attends various class lectures and reviews texts to assess content and relate to student difficulties.
- Instructs students in organization for study, course preparation, note-taking, study time planning, and test preparation.
- Assists the student to direct themselves to achieve their academic maximum performance.
- Supervises Groups Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) tutors, including their hiring and training.
General Responsibilities
- In consultation with leadership, develops, designs, and maintains diversity, equity, belonging, and inclusion program objectives to support organizational goals.
- Develops communications and serves as liaison to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging program participants, collaborators in other units, community partners, and leadership members.
- Provides mechanisms, training, and advice on diversity-related topics, such as cultural understanding, implicit bias, recruitment and retention strategies, inclusive terminology, and team dynamics, to a variety of audiences.
- Recruits, trains, directs, schedules, and evaluates faculty and staff partners, students and volunteers.
- Mentors, serves as a resource and provides guidance to team staff members as needed.
- May serve on various committees and provide input on strategic direction for the department or unit.
- Arranges staff travel, accommodations, and research activities as necessary.

EDUCATION
Required
- Bachelor's degree in math, science, informatics or related field
Preferred
- Master's degree
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
- 2 years in diversity, equity, and inclusion programming or related field
Preferred
- 2 years in teaching and/or tutoring in relevant math and science subject areas in a college setting
- Supervisory experience
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Preferred
- Valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University
