Job Summary
Working independently, under the supervision of a Surgeon, prepares patients for anesthesia, administers anesthesia, monitors patients closely during surgery, and monitors patients'' progress after surgery. CRNA might also be called upon to help relieve pain in Med-Surg and OB units. After surgery, the CRNA oversees the patient''s post-procedural recovery. CRNA may also provide emotional support to patients and their families, and patient care services relative to the overall welfare of patients and major agents of direct patient care.
Education Requirements
Bachelor''s degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program through Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) required.
Master s Degree from an accredited nurse anesthesia education program required.
Minimum Licensure/Certification/Registration Requirements
Basic Life Support certification required. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies
CRNA required
Requires current license as Registered Nurse
