Vehicle Description This is a 1934 Mercedes Benz 500K convertible replica, complete with suicide doors and wire-spoke knock-off wheel hubs.
It was made by the well-known Heritage Motors of Miami and built in 1978 out in California.
The donor vehicle was a 1971 Camaro, with automatic transmission and a Chevrolet 350 cu.
in.
V8 engine, with A/C, power steering, power windows and power brakes.
The fiberglass body is pearl white in color, in very good condition and just a few tiny knicks.
I had added a Sony stereo package with blue-tooth, Satellite-ready and USB port, and it has an automatic retractable radio antenna.
Also added was a rear-view camera, with the screen in the rear-view mirror, and back-up lights.
I added five new Coker wide white-wall tires, which helps give it that genuine 1930s look.
The tires have about 500 miles on them.
The tan ragtop is functional, but probably should be replaced.
There is a five-inch stretch in the leather bench seat where the stitching is coming loose along a seam.
It has a kill switch under the hood as an added anti-theft device.
It carries a 1934 Indiana title, so it is eligible for heritage tags.
I paid $28K for the car in October 2020 at a car museum in Wichita Falls, TX and have had some $12k in repairs and improvements done to the car -- gas tank dropped and cleaned out, improved the wobbling steering column, added electric cooling fans and various other improvements.
It definitely attracts looks and honks while being driven around town, given its very unique appearance.
Trunk can hold a set of golf clubs.
So why am I asking only $25K for the car? I spent a good bit of 2021 in two different hospitals for surgeries and then many months recovering at home.
In sum, the car has spent more time in repair shops than I've spent driving it, and I just had more surgery.
I figured I might as well get it into the hands of somebody who could actually enjoy driving it! Plus, my wife hates it and we have three cars and only a two-car garage.
I've set it at a very reasonable price so that I can quickly get this off my to do list.
As a bit of trivia, when Mercedes Benz brought the first models over in 1934, the first two were given to Clark Cable and Gary Cooper, as that was the image they wanted to portray with their new automobile.
